It's all a matter of persective...

So I was driving down 26 a while ago and I saw a sign saying that my exit was 3 miles away or something like that. A few years ago I would not have been able to see myself being able to run 3 miles and probably would have thought, "Oh, I can't run that. That's so far!!"
But this day was different. This day, I thought, "Hey, 3 miles really isn't that far. I could just run to my destination if needed." And then it hit me. My view of myself was completely different. I can do it. I might not always want to do it, but I CAN.
Now, if people tell me I can't do something I get mad at them. I really do. Cause I now see people who talk and think like that not as realists, but as failure seeking people. Even before they allow themselves or anyone else a chance to try, they say "No" or "I can't" or "You can't do that." Thus, they never win. They never know what it's like to bust their butt at something and finally earn their reward. Granted, they never know what it's like to fail-epically. But isn't failure like beauty? It's all in the eye of the beholder. And those "failures" make our victories all the better, all the more triumphant.
So to those who tell me, "You can't do that"...watch me. Watch me prove you wrong.

All ready for February

It was a great first week to start off February for me. I finally got to go to a forms class and brush up on forms. I also learned a new sparing technique form CGN Samantha called the shell. Thank you CGN Samntha!

Ouch!

And that about sums up yesterday. Great job everyone!

Here are few more pics from last week for my "catalog of bruises".

Acceptance

Sometimes I feel like I really don't know if I'm improving. I find myself still getting the combos wrong when we do kick-boxing and I've always been bad at endurance type training... Was always good at the short sprints, never for the long haul. Anyhow, my main goal this time around in training is 1) No saying 'I can't do it' 2) No crying (suck it up)

Well during today's endurance training, I wanted to cry, but I didn't, and I misunderstood the number of times I thought we had to do the lunges/long jump/bear crawls and told Paula that I didn't think I could do it again. Luckily I misunderstood her and we only had to run a 3rd time, not do all the other stuff again (thank God).

I guess my point is that I came in dead last again. Yeah, it was physically difficult, but mainly because I misunderstood the directions and went too far down the room for some of the exercises and then I spent most of my mental energy fighting the old nagging desire to just give up; Not to mention the fact I was mad at myself for even considering to say 'I can't do it'.

I'm tired of being last, tired of fighting my owns doubts, and at the moment, just plain tired.
But I'm not giving up. Even I come in last every time.

It hurts so good....

I forgot how good pain felt. I got kicked in the inner thigh hard by hunter during sparring, and for some strange reason i liked it. (It must be a martial artist thing). This week i also was able to find and create my demo music. The name of the song is "unstoppable". I never would have known how useful youtube can be when you type in "epic battle music" in search. On saturday, im also performing in a mystery murder theatre for my church. (my wow). Its a good thing to participate in your community.

The quote by George Bernard Shaw is a great one that reflects the Dare to Dream themed test.

Good Grades! / Goals

Even though your testing for your black-belt us Jr.s still need to stay on top of our grades! Doing homework is a pain, but homework will help me fulfill one of my huge goals and that's going to collage! With high school coming up this year they want to choose the best of the best students! So Jr.s do your homework and through in some kicks and punches! Goals are also important to this training too! If it's a small goal just for the day like doing ten push ups or maybe a huge goal like earning your second degree black-belt, either way goals are a huge part of life! I'm sure that everyone reading this blog right now has a huge goal and maybe that goal does take some time to achieve, but wouldn't it feel good after all that hard work to just start a new one? Well class yesterday was TOTALLY WICKED! SBN really wanted to do some mma. ( I don't think this is how you spell it, but oh well :)

Were in February already! Lets keep rockin' it!!!            ZOE

Crutches: the yield sign

I found out today that I just sprained my ankle, but I have to wear a big, heavy boot and walk with crutches for a week. Th boot I have to keep on for longer. It feels like I can't do anything and I'm so confined to certain places. Push-ups and sit-ups are much more difficult and I can't do cardio minutes. This is frustrating because it was fractured last year in the same spot and it probably never healed and is weaker because of it. Hopefully it'll be strong enough to be back into training by February 20. Until then, keep training hard guys!!
