Finding Balance

Saturday morning came very early last weekend, and I know I disappointed a few people by not showing up for the candidates' special training. Tonight, I disappointed myself by not going to weapons or adult class. Both times were my own decision and my own making because I allowed other things get in the way of my commitment.

The first disappointment resulted from a personal interference (i wanted more sleep), and the second from a work situation (I wouldn't let something wait until tomorrow). Both situations represent an imbalance.

I have a goal--gain my second degree black belt while supporting the candidates for first degree. In order to reach that goal, I need to find a way to balance the rest of my life so that it doesn't interfere with training. First idea, find a way to improve the quality of my sleep so that I'm not so tired in the mornings. Second idea, stick to a set schedule at work and finish on-time, allowing tasks to be re-prioritized for the following day if not completed.

I will not be at training tomorrow night as I have a family dinner to attend (making more time for family has been one of my personal goals over the last year).

See everyone on Thursday!

  1. Cgn Girl Sam, I too have a problem, if you haven't noticed, with making time. my Affirmation is 'find time' - and that is too, find balance. Perhaps a struggle that has overwhelmed me lately. Although I'm of the mindset that one needs to know the hurt in order to understand why we don't want the pain. I know you're finding the time, and developing that balance, but if it was easy, everyone would do it. Please don't blame yourself or come down on yourself too hard - believe in yourself to make the right choices on your time and you'll see it'll work out.. you're one of our best blackbelts, and for reasons like this..
