There's definitely something to be said about rest. I've only been on vacation for a couple days now, but it feels great! I've done A LOT of lounging...something I don't find enough time for during a normal week. Don't worry, I am still working out, and I actually thought about using all this extra time to catch up on my sit-ups and push-ups...then I thought otherwise. I do not want to spend my vacation trying to cram 5,000 push-ups into a ten day period...not even sure if that's physically possible for me at this point. So, I settled on trying to pump out 300 a day, and using the rest of my time to actually rest.
So far, this trip has been restful and inspiring. I went on a 3 mile jog yesterday in the drizzling rain--it was amazing. The Dave Matthews Band music on my iPod combined with the beautiful scenery combined with the falling raindrops and the heat my body was generating created a sensory experience I will never forget.
I'm not sure how many of you are interested in concepts of Zen or the ideas of existential psychology and/or self-actualization, but I find that stimulating my senses and paying attention to the way that my body is interacting with the world around me is a great way to remind myself of how connected everything in the world is, and how much potential I have as a person to affect it.
With the rest, the amazing workout, and the meditation on my place in this world, I have started to feel truly rejuvenated.
