I've been journaling a lot about trying to find balance between training, work, social interaction, and time for myself. Over the last couple of weeks, I think I have finally gotten into a good routine. I feel great! I'm feeling more rested, and energetic, and positive about so many things.
Just writing that statement makes me feel good--power of intention at work. :o)
I think a lot of it has to do with keeping a food diary and tracking the types of food that I'm eating. Making sure that I'm getting the right kind of nutrition has helped a lot in how I feel physically, especially since I'm eating small nutritional meals throughout the day to keep me energized. I've specifically been eating a lot more spinach to increase my iron levels, and grilled chicken salads, nuts, etc. to get more protein, and fruits, veggies and whole grains to get those much needed carbs. I'm very surprised with myself that I was able to cut down on the amount of cheese I eat. I love cheese, but I've cut it out quite a bit.
The book I bought on nutrition for the martial artist has really helped a lot in understanding how the body uses food as feul and actually produces energy three different ways--if you think about food that way, changing the way you eat is much easier.
I have to admit, however, that it's a constant struggle to maintain healthy eating habits, some foods are so tempting...luckily, it's perfectly okay to indulge once in a while and eat those french fries covered in blue cheese. :o)
